Drone crashes into Brooklyn power plant

A drone crashed into a Con Edison power plant near the East River in Brooklyn, police sources said.

The drone smashed into several pieces after striking the building at 1 Hudson Avenue, near the Hudson Navy Yard in Vinegar Hill. The incident took place in March of 2017, police investigated and did not identify the drone operator.

This isn’t the first time a drone has flown too close to infrastructure, and it probably won’t be the last. FAA has restricted drone flying over DOE facilities to prevent these kinds of mishaps from happening at some critical infrastructures. Some states have gone so far as to ban drones from flying over critical infrastructures.
