A modern drone can easily carry a payload of a couple pounds. Drones can be modified to carry and drop guns, chemicals and explosives. Videos on Youtube show drones retrofitted with guns that can fire remotely or retrofitted with a flamethrower. As drone use increases, event organizers and law enforcement have to deal with the risk of people using drones for nefarious purposes.
The Las Vegas shooting in 2017 and the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013 show that a person who wants to cause harm can use new methods to achieve their goals. Drones can easily bypass traditional security measures like metal detectors, providing another avenue for harmful activity.
